Welcome new students! To get started and access all the resources, discussions, and module materials, follow these simple steps:
Step 1: Download Telegram
Telegram is the platform we use for our community. If you don’t already have it, download the app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android), or can also use the desktop version if you prefer.
Step 2: Create a Telegram Account
Open the app and sign up using your phone number. Follow the prompts to verify your number and set up your profile. Also make sure to use a name that’s easy to recognize and does not contain anything that implies you are an administrator or tutor.
Step 3: Find and Chat with the UnisaGroups Bot
Once your Telegram account is set up, search for the UnisaGroupsBot in Telegram. You can find it by typing @UnisaGroupsBot in the search bar. Link to a guide with pictures in the next step. However, Telegram is a chat client not limited to just students, everyone in the world can use it – even scammers.
Step 4: Verify Your Account with Your Email
The bot will guide you through the verification process. You’ll need to provide your UNISA student email to confirm your identity. In other words, this step ensures that only verified Unisa students can access the community. How Do I Verify?
Step 5: Access the Community and Search for Modules
After verification, you’ll gain full access to the UnisaGroups community. After that, use the search function within the group or bot to find your modules, study materials, and connect with fellow students.
